The Galactic Bulge Survey (GBS)

Simulation showing the expected density of low-mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs) detectable in our optical Blanco survey as well as in our proposed X-ray survey area (black boxes) in galactic coordinates plotted over the dust maps from Schlegel et al. (1998). The green dots indicate the density of quiescent LMXBs, the red dots indicate that of the persistent LMXBs, the dark blue dots that of the persistent ultra-compact X-ray binaries (UCXBs) and finally, the light blue dots indicate the predicted density of quiescent UCXBs. The grey scale indicates the interstellar extinction in magnitudes in the Johnston I band and in terms of neutral hydrogen column density.
